Cox Veteran East Joins Time Warner Cable

Time Warner Cable recruited veteran Cox Communications executive Ellen East, naming her executive vice president of corporate communications.

East, who joined Cox in 1993, succeeds Lynn Yaeger, who plans to retire at the end of 2007.

Time Warner said East will be based out of New York and oversee its corporate communications and public affairs teams, in addition to guiding the cable TV operator’s regional and divisional public affairs issues. She’ll report to Time Warner Cable CEO Glenn Britt.

East was vice president of corporate communications at Cox. Before joining Cox in 1993, East worked as a reporter and editor at several daily newspapers, including The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. She’ll relocate from Cox’s headquarters in Atlanta for the Time Warner job in New York.

“We have spent the last few months conducting a thorough search of candidates, both inside and outside of our industry,” Britt said in Friday’s announcement. “We are fortunate to have been able to secure the talents of someone with a wide breadth of corporate affairs experience at another well-respected MSO.”

East has won numerous industry awards, including the National Cable & Telecommunications Association Vanguard Award for Young Leadership, the Multichannel News and Women in Cable Telecommunications Wonder Woman award and a CTAM Rainmaker award.
