Cox Communications Inc. digital customers in seven major markets will have a chance to win a family vacation to Los Angeles or other prizes as a reward for watching pay-per-view trailers on the operator's on-demand channel.
The contest targets consumers in the operator's Las Vegas; San Diego and Orange County, Calif.; Omaha, Neb.; Oklahoma City; Hampton Roads, Va.; and New England clusters. Customers can qualify for prizes by watching films through Dec. 5.
The grand prize is a trip for four to the Universal Studios theme park in Los Angeles. In each market, a customer may win a home-theater system. The local second prize is a $300 shopping spree at ShopNBC. Movie prize packages will also be awarded.
Viewers qualify by watching promotions for upcoming PPV offerings such as Robots, The Amityville Horror, The Longest Yard and The Interpreter,among others. After the trailer, the consumer will be provided with an entry code to enter the sweepstakes online (www.winondemand.tv).
Cox executives believe the contest will prompt new users to try out the on-demand service.
