CSN Chicago Nets Regular-Season Ratings Mark with Blackhawks' Opener

RSN's Jan. 22 Telecast Leads Chicago DMA Among Key Demos

The Chicago Blackhawks' 2013 home opener played big for Comcast SportNet, as the RSN netted its highest regular-season rating with the NHL club.

The Blackhawks’ 3-2 victory on Jan. 22 over division rival St. Louis Blues averaged a 5.4 household rating and 188, 179 households in the Chicago DMA, according to Nielsen data. That delivery topped the 4.35 rating for CSN Chicago’s coverage of the Blackhawks-Vancouver Canucks on March 5. 2010.

The Jan. 22 telecast peaked with a 6.28 rating and 218,945 households in the 10 p.m. quarter hour.

All told, CSN Chicago ranked as the highest-rated network in the Chicago DMA among key demos, including adults 25 to 54, for the duration of  the game—7:30 p.m. and 10:15 p.m.

Officials said the network was also No. 1 in the market for six straight hours -- 5:30 p.m.-11:30 p.m. in the following demos: males 18 to 34 and 18 to 49, men 25 to 54 and persons 18 to 34.
