CSTV Nets Charter, Cox Deals

College Sports Television has reached distribution deals with Cox Communications Inc. and Charter Communications Inc.

The mostly digital-tier-targeted carriage deals will push the 7 million-subscriber network to the 10 million mark.

The Charter and Cox deals -- along with previous agreements with Time Warner Cable, Comcast Corp. and Adelphia Communications Corp. -- make the 24-hour digital sports network the first new independent network to sign distribution deals with the five largest cable operators, according to CSTV.

The network also has a carriage deal with direct-broadcast satellite service DirecTV Inc.
