The Cable Television Public Affairs Association has donated $15,000 to The
Emma L. Bowen Foundation, the CTPAA announced Wednesday.

The cable industry's organization for public-affairs professionals allocated
the proceeds from the silent auction held during the kickoff of its annual
meeting, Forum 2001, April 22 in Washington, D.C.

Including this year's contribution, the CTPAA has donated more than $42,000
to the Bowen Foundation over the past three years.

The foundation was established in 1989 by the media industry as a diversity
initiative to increase the talent pool of qualified minority candidates for
entry and midlevel career opportunities.

'The Emma Bowen Foundation is a terrific organization that is powerfully
engaged in developing and providing the industry with qualified minority
candidates,' CTPAA executive director Steve Jones said in a prepared statement.
'This donation is a concrete example of the public-affairs initiative CTPAA
members are developing and running in their local communities and across the
nation. The Bowen Foundation is actively helping the cable industry to fulfill
its diversity goals. We are extremely pleased to help support them in their
efforts.'

More than 100 items were donated by operators, programmers and others for the
2001 auction.
