The theme of the Cable Television Public Affairs Association’s Forum 2005 will be “Expanding Cable's Connections,” the trade group said Thursday.
The CTPAA’s annual educational conference will be held May 1-4 at the Ritz-Carlton in Washington, D.C.
Among executives who have committed to speak at Forum 2005 are George Bodenheimer, president of ESPN Inc. and ABC Sports; Jim Robbins, CEO of Cox Communications Inc.; and Henry Schleiff, chairman and CEO of Court TV.
The CTPAA will also announce the winners of its “2005 Beacon Awards,” which honor excellence in public affairs throughout the cable industry, during a gala ceremony and dinner Tuesday, May 3.
“The theme reflects cable’s ever-expanding range of products and services and how cable public-affairs professionals need to connect with even greater numbers of customers, policy leaders and members of the media to educate them on cable-telecommunications services and entertainment options,” the CTPAA said in a prepared statement.
CTPAA president and C-SPAN Networks vice president of affiliate relations Peter Kiley added, “The integration of community-outreach and public-affairs activities tied to business and policy objectives are vital components of our industry's efforts to ensure that customers, policy makers and Wall Street understand new products and service benefits.”
