Current on Demand launched throughout Time Warner Cable’s existing and newly acquired cable systems in Los Angeles at no additional cost.
Current TV is currently available on the MSO’s digital basic package, and it will be launched on its newly acquired systems by year-end, the two parties said.
The companion video-on-demand service will include: “Best of Current,” which showcases the most popular VC2 (viewer created content) and other short-form Current features; “Current LA,” which includes the best Pods by, about and for young-adult audiences in Los Angeles; and “SuperNews,” which features the most compelling segments from Current animated comedy series SuperNews.
“The combination of Current’s viewer-created content with Time Warner Cable’s highly localized delivery capability is a natural marriage,” Time Warner Los Angeles region executive vice president Roger Keating said in a prepared statement.
“The result is powerful: hyper-local stories created by Los Angeles residents, delivered on-demand,” he added. “We’re thrilled to work with innovators like Current that take full advantage of our sophisticated cable platform.”
