Dark Hour for TV Land

TV Land will pre-empt regularly scheduled programming and “go dark” Sept. 26 from 6 p.m.-7 p.m. as part of its commitment to“Family Day -- A Day to Eat Dinner with Your Children,” the network said Monday.

TV Land and Nick at Nite are teaming up with The National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse (CASA) to host an event at Columbia University in New York, and viewers tuning into the two networks will see Jamie Lee Curtis and George Lopez discuss the initiative in public-service announcements running on both networks. Lopez also recorded Spanish-language spots promoting Family Day.

“Pre-empting TV Land’s normal programming schedule is a symbolic gesture on our part to remind families of the importance of eating dinner together and sharing more than just meals at the table,” TV Land and Nick at Nite president Larry W. Jones said in a prepared statement.
