Sacramento, Calif. - DirecTV Inc. and EchoStar Communications Corp. are
fostering opposition for a satellite tax bill in California that hasn't even
been presented yet.
The direct-broadcast satellite providers are urging customers to write their
elected officials to fight an 8% levy that may be one of the recommendations of
the California Commission on Tax Policy in the New Economy, which is advising
Gov. Gray Davis.
The commission is headed by Bill Rosendahl, vice president of Adelphia
Communications Corp. in Southern California.
