D.C. Interconnect Goes Hardwired

Washington -- National Cable Communications announced that
the 1.1 million-subscriber Greater Washington Interconnect launched as a hardwired fiber
optic interconnect Feb. 3.

The 11-headend, 15-system interconnect inserts on 16
networks. The GWI, a partnership of five MSOs -- Jones Intercable Inc.,
Tele-Communications Inc., Media General Cable, Prime Cable and Great Southern
Communications -- is managed by National Cable Communications.

The spot-cable rep firm also manages similar interconnects
in Chicago and Detroit.
