The debut of USA Network's latest original series wasn't so covert.
The July 13 bow of Covert Affairs topped its lead-in White Collar averaging some 4.9 million viewers in the 10 p.m. time slot, according to Nielsen data.
That marked a 14% gain from the 4.3 million watchers for the sophomore -season premiere of White Collar, a total that represented a 12% advance from the series' winter season average, according to USA officials.
As for Covert Affairs, a CIA drama starring Piper Perabo (Coyote Ugly) and Christopher Gorham (Ugly Betty), it averaged 2.1 million persons 18 to 49, the most for any cable scripted premiere with the demo, including the July 12 bow of TNT's Rizzoli & Isles with the demo. Covert Affairs averaged 2.3 million persons 25 to 54, 28% more than White Collar's 1.8 million with the group, according to Nielsen data.
