Degrassi Sets Ratings Mark for The N

The fourth-season premiere of Degrassi: The Next Generation was the highest-rated and most-watched original program in The N’s history.

The hour-long “Date Rape Trial” episode Oct. 1 also topped all of television among teens 12-17 and young women within that demo from 8 p.m.-9 p.m. that night.

All told, the show attracted 450,000 total viewers, according to Nielsen Media Research data, including 270,000 teen watchers.

The program averaged a 2.6 rating against tweens 9-14 and a like mark against teens 12-17.

In particular, the Nielsens were fueled by young women: The show garnered a 4.7 among females 9-14 and a 5.1 among females 12-17.
