In Demand will take a shot at the online interactive-gaming business with the Wednesday launch of a hockey-oriented virtual game.
The multilevel "Blade’s Breakaway"
game -- designed to help support the "NHL Center Ice" National Hockey League out-of-market pay-per-view package -- allows users to test their maneuvering skills as they help a pucklike character named "Blade" qualify as an NHL player, according to In Demand executives.
The game is featured on an In Demand-created Web site (www.gethockey.com
) developed to promote the package. The site also includes an interactive demo of NHL Center Ice, as well as season schedules and customizable electronic-mail schedules.
"Our goal was to create an exciting and compelling Web site to attract the attention of hockey fans," In Demand associate director of Internet and new media Rebecca Ryan-Hunter said in a prepared statement. "Virtual interactive games are a fun way of informing them about our package."
