In Demand: A Penny for Howard’s Thoughts

In Demand Networks this weekend will provide consumers with a chance to see some of the best of Howard Stern’s Sirius Satellite Radio show for a pretty penny.

Digital-cable subscribers accessing the on-demand area of participating providers will be able to view the Howard TV on Demand Preview -- a composite of antics, interviews and stunt from the shock jock’s Sirius show, plus re-edited uncensored classic Stern show moments, original programming and excusive behind-the-scenes footage -- from midnight Nov. 3-Nov. 5 for one cent.

With the material carrying a TV-Mature rating, cable subscribers must opt in for the weekend preview special, according to a Stern spokeswoman.

Among the clips drawn from Howard TV on Demand that will air during the preview this weekend: “Most Disturbing Sybian Ride,” “Best Celebrity Interview,” “Best Emotional Breakdown,” “Best Wack Pack Appearance,” “Most Passionate Lesbian Kiss,” “Most Intense Fight,” “Best Roast Performance” and “Best Drunken Moment.” Celebrities appearing on the special include Jenna Jameson, Sylvester Stallone, Pamela Anderson and Jenny McCarthy.

After viewing the preview, fans can vote online (www.howard.tv) for the “best-of-the-best” moments of the year from Nov. 3-22. The winning clips will be shown exclusively on Howard TV in January.

“With the highly anticipated launch of the Sirius Satellite show and Howard TV on Demand, 2006 has proven to be a watershed year of renewed vitality in Howard’s shows,” In Demand Networks CEO Robert Jacobson said in a prepared statement.

“He is now unchained by the shackles of regulation, and this one-cent preview is a chance for everyone to see how great the newly uncensored format is.”

In Demand is touting the preview with an array of media, including cross-channel spots, newspaper ads and pages in the current issues of Playboy, Maxim and FHM. Radio commercials are also in flight in the top eight markets, while In Demand has engaged such outdoor vehicles as taxitops in New York and the Jumbo Videotron in Los Angeles. There is also promotion on Stern’s Sirius show.
