`Dexter' Delivers Killer Ratings


Showtime's Sunday night premieres of Dexter and Californication generated record ratings for the pay TV  network.
The fourth season premiere of Dexter, starring Michael C. Hall as Miami's infamous fictional cop/serial killer, averaged 1.5 million viewers -- the most watched telecast on Showtime since Nielsen began its current rating measurement of the service in 2004.
Dexter's premiere episode was also 25% above the 1.2 million viewers who tuned into the series' season four premiere last September.
Following Dexter's lead, Showtime comedy series Califonication also drew record ratings in its season three debut. The David Duchovny starrer averaged a series record 821,000 viewers for its premiere, a 57% increase over last season's premiere and 33% ahead of last season's finale, according to the network.
