'Dexter' Slices Way To Top Of Showtime Ratings

The Sunday night installment of serial killer series Dexter carved its way to become the most-watched telecast in Showtime history.

The Oct. 25 premiere at 9 p.m. averaged 1.7 million watchers, according to Nielsen data. Adding the 371,000 for the encore at 11 p.m., the episode grabbed nearly 2.1 million viewers. Thus, the fifth episode of Dexter's fourth season became the first Showtime show to surpass the 2 million watcher mark.

The episode surpassed the show's fourth-season opener on Sept. 27, which pulled in 1.52 million watchers at 9 p.m. that night and 403,000 two hours later.
