Saigon Broadcasting Television Network Tuesday became the first network on DirecTV Inc.’s “VietnameseDirect” service.
SBTN -- the first and only 24-hour Vietnamese-language channel originating in the United States-- is a joint venture between International Channel Networks and Saigon Broadcasting Network Inc.
Programming on the network includes news, talk shows, sports, children's programs, cultural and history, general-entertainment and variety programs.
VietnameseDirect is available to DirecTV’s direct-broadcast satellite customers nationwide for $14.99 per month.
“SBTN offers programming designed for the Vietnamese population living in the United States, and it will enable Vietnamese-speaking residents to enjoy entertainment programming that is relevant to their lifestyles and interests,” DirecTV CEO Mitchell Stern said in a prepared statement.
ICN managing director Steve Smith added, “SBTN provides exceptional programming for the Vietnamese community in the United States, and it is now poised to grow dramatically.”
