DirecTV has begun the soft launch of its long-awaited Spanish language over-the-top service, dubbed Yaveo, which provides a suite of programming from Latin America and Spain for $7.99 per month.
The service, which will initially be available on PCs and Mac and Android devices, will later allow access via IPhones, IPad and Xbox 360, DirecTV said in a statement. The service is available without a satellite subscription or contract and the first month is free.
(UPDATE: DirecTV recently announced Yaveo would shut down on Dec. 16.)
In a statement, DirecTV said customers will be able to start watching a show or movie on one device, pause, then continue watching it on another device, as well as be able to stream Ya Veo on up to two devices simultaneously.
Yaveo customers will access thousands of hours of programming including exclusive and hard-to-find content from the U.S., Latin America and Spain, the latest on demand movies, TV shows, children’s programming, novelas, music and documentaries. Customers will also have the ability to stream live sports and entertainment channels such as beIN Sports en Español, Cine Sony Television and ¡Hola! TV with more to be added soon.
“Yaveo gets DirecTV into the OTT business and we’re excited to start with a compelling Spanish-language service targeted to the Hispanic community,” said DirecTV chief revenue and marketing officer Paul Guyardo in a statement. “We’ll learn a great deal, use the findings to grow and improve the Ya Veo platform and expand our OTT offering over time.”
The channels available on the service include, but are not limited to:
beIN Sports en Español
Nick en Español
TMN (The Movie Network)
Cine Sony Television
Univision suite of networks
