DirecTV Deal Putts Golf Past 67M Mark


The Golf Channel said Wednesday that it has added 4.7 million incremental subscribers through a restructured agreement with direct-broadcast satellite provider DirecTV Inc.

Golf will now be included in DirecTV’s second-most-penetrated tier, the “Total Choice Plus” package, which will push the network’s subscriber total from nearly 62 million to more than 67 million, according to Nielsen Media Research.

“We’re excited that this agreement with DirecTV will make our programming available to millions of new viewers,” Golf president David Manougian said in a prepared statement. “DirecTV has been a great partner, and it is gratifying that they recognize significant value in offering The Golf Channel to an expanded base of their customers.”
