Blonder Tongue Laboratories sold its Texas-based private-cable-television business, BDR Broadband, to DirecPath for approximately $3.1 million.
DirecPath is a joint venture between Hicks Holdings and DirecTV Group.
Blonder Tongue said the sale will provide it with a gain of approximately $875,000 and annualized savings of approximately $525,000.
DirecPath, meanwhile, said the deal will allow it to provide bundled DirecTV direct-broadcast satellite programming, broadband voice and data services and security to multiple dwelling communities, particularly in the Texas area.
In other Blonder Tongue news, the company announced Friday that it completed the sale of selected patents to Moonbeam for $2 million.
In September, Blonder Tongue announced that it signed an agreement to sell the patents to Wilmington, Del.-based Moonbeam. As part of the deal, Blonder Tongue retains a nonexclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to continue to sell and develop its products that currently use the patents.
