DirecTV to Open Two Call Centers

DirecTV Inc. said Tuesday that it will open owned-and-operated customer call centers in Tulsa, Okla., and Huntsville, Ala., this summer.

The direct-broadcast satellite provider -- which currently runs its customer-service operations out of a national call center in Boise, Idaho -- said the two centers will have the combined capacity to employ up to 2,000 customer-service professionals.

"With our plans to launch more advanced television services -- including new digital-video-recorder features, interactivity, additional high-definition programming and more local channels -- DirecTV will continue to ensure that support is readily available to customers when they need it," executive vice president of customer satisfaction Peter Giacalone said in a prepared statement.
