DirecTV Inc. said Monday that it would add a third high-definition-television
channel, SHO HDTV from Showtime Networks Inc., April 30.
The direct-broadcast satellite provider said it would add Showtime's East
Coast feed in HDTV. DirecTV also distributes HDNet and Home Box Office in
high-definition, as well as a limited HDTV pay-per-view offering.
DirecTV subscribers will need special HDTV-capable DBS tuners and satellite
dishes pointed to the 110 degrees west orbital location to receive the SHO HDTV
There will be no additional fee for DirecTV customers who already subscribe
to Showtime multiplex packages.
