DirecTV Raises More than $1M for Schools

DirecTV said its “DIRECTV4Schools” initiative has raised more than $1 million since its launch last fall.

As part of DIRECTV4Schools, the direct-broadcast satellite provider donates $100 to a participating school for every parent, teacher or friend who activates its service and keeps it for one year, and $50 for any current subscriber who makes a new programming commitment for an additional year.

Among DirecTV’s success stories: Natchez High School in Natchez, Miss., brought in more than 320 subscriptions, which helped to raise funds for an end-of-year school trip, and St. Clair Catholic School in St. Clair, Mo., used theprogram to raise funds for a new school playground, which was installed in April.

Schools can register for the program via the DIRECTV4Schools Web site.
