DirecTV Spreads Gospel Music Channel

DirecTV will sing the praises of Atlanta-based Gospel Music Channel, when it launches the 24-hour Christian Music television network next month.

Under the agreement, terms of which were not disclosed, DirecTV will carry the channel on its Total Choice basic tier, beginning March 19. The pact pushes GMC’s subscriber count toward 40 million subscribers.

The network also has carriage deals with major cable operators such as Comcast Cable, Time Warner Cable and Cox Communications.

“With the addition of DirecTV, GMC is now available to nearly 40 million subscribers,” said Gospel Music Channel founder and president Charles Humbard in a statement. “We look forward to providing DirecTV customers with this unique and uplifting entertainment and we thank DirecTV for their support.”
