After reporting a solid $201 million in second-quarter operating profit (up
235%), Hughes Electronics Corp. upped DirecTV Inc.’s revenue guidance for 2003
by $200 million to $7.5 billion.
DirecTV, which added 181,000 net new subscribers during the second quarter,
counts 11.56 million subscribers.
Its revenue jumped 16% to $1.8 billion, with revenue per subscriber
increasing $2.80 to $60.90.
The company also upped its estimate for operating profit before depreciation
and amortization to $1 billion, compared with April's projection of $900
