DirecTV, VMIX Launch Web Channel


DirecTV teamed up with interactive-media and social-networking company VMIX to launch a dedicated online channel for the direct-broadcast satellite provider’s The Fizz show.

The comedy show features a pop-culture mash-up of user-generated content, including content from video bloggers, amateur animation clips and independent music. Users will be able to submit video content through the new site for consideration in upcoming episodes.

The Fizz airs on DirecTV channel The 101, available to roughly 16 million households.

San Diego-based VMIX also streams content from partners Fox Home Entertainment, Sony Pictures, Warner Bros., Bravo, NBC Universal Television and Tribune Interactive.
