DirecTV Will Float HGTV's Rose Parade In 3D

Get ready to put on your rose-colored 3D glasses: DirecTV plans to deliver HGTV's 3D telecast of the 123rd Tournament of Roses Parade on Jan. 2, 2012, live from Pasadena, Calif.

HGTV's two-hour coverage of flower-festooned floats and other pageantry kicks off Jan. 2 at 11 a.m. Eastern. The program will be hosted by Entertainment Tonight reporter Nancy O'Dell, landscape designer Jamie Durie of HGTV's The Outdoor Room and television producer Robb Weller.

Scripps Networks Interactive spokesman Lee Hall said the HGTV 3D feed will be available to "any and all distributors who choose to take it."

The 2012 parade's grand marshal is J.R. Martinez, a former U.S. Army soldier who took first place in ABC's Dancing with the Stars this fall. In addition to HGTV, the event will be broadcast live by networks including ABC, NBC, Univision, Hallmark Channel and RFD-TV.

HGTV will have its own float in the parade: a replica of the HGTV Dream Home 2012, featuring network personalities including John Gidding of Curb Appeal; Casey Noble of Design on a Dime and Anthony Carrino and John Colaneri of Kitchen Cousins.

DirecTV will make the HGTV 3D feed available to HD subs for no additional charge. The satellite TV operator also offers ESPN 3D and pay-per-view movies in stereoscopic format. Viewers must have compatible 3DTVs and glasses to watch the content.
