Discovery Bows 'Shark' Marketing Details

Discovery Channel announced Tuesday that its previously announced "Shark
Week" underwater pool decals will appear at two hotel resorts this month --
Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas and the Royal Pacific Resort Hotel
in Orlando, Fla.

In other guerilla-marketing tactics via agency Interference Inc. in New York,
Discovery senior vice president of marketing Julie Gordon Willis said there will
be so-called shark-bite media objects placed at high-traffic sites in New York
and Los Angeles.

The objects -- cars, surfboards and trash cans made to look as if they've
been bitten by great white sharks -- will appear in New York's Times Square and
Grand Central Station and Los Angeles’ Sunset Boulevard and Santa Monica Pier,
she added.

The network's 16th annual Shark Week programming stunt will run Sunday, Aug.
10, through Sunday, Aug. 17.
