Discovery Channel has given the go-ahead to a new reality series called Big.
The show, from Original Productions (the network’s Monster Garage), will bow in June and follow teams as they build huge things, including pizzas.
Discovery -- which is riding a reality high with the strong performances of American Chopper and its spinoff, American Hot Rod -- has ordered a baker’s dozen worth of Big installments.
Additionally, a network spokesman said, Discovery -- which is using Friday nights as a test bed for series development -- will air a pilot of American Beauty Shop, a look at a family-owned beautician business in Savannah, Ga., April 12.
A solid audience response, among other considerations, could push the pilot to series.
