Derek Koenig has joined Discovery Communications Inc. as senior vice president of marketing for the U.S. division.
Koenig had been VP of brand advertising at America Online Inc.
In his new role, he will provide strategic and creative brand leadership in management of consumer-marketing campaigns with primary responsibility for The Learning Channel, and he will identify and leverage strategic partnerships and brand-extension opportunities for the network.
Koenig will also serve as a liaison with internal departments to leverage promotional opportunities, including the Discovery Channel Pro Cycling Team.
He will report to Discovery Networks U.S. executive VP of marketing Ken Dice.
