Discovery en Español to Premiere Pancho Villa Doc

Pancho Villa, Mexico’s most prominent revolutionary general, at is the center of the upcoming El Asesinato de Villa: La Conspiración (The Killing of Villa: The Conspiracy), a Discovery en Español original production set to premiere July 20 at 8 p.m (ET).

The one-hour special, directed by Mexican filmmaker Emilio Maillé focuses on the last 30 minutes of the life of a revolutionary who made many enemies in both the U.S. and Mexico.

The series mixes photographs from historical archives with fictional accounts of Villa’s July 20, 1923, in the streets of Hidalgo del Parral, Chihuahua. It also draws on the opinions of renowned Villa experts, including writer and filmmaker Guillermo Arriaga and historians Jesús Vargas Valdés, Antonio Campuzano and Dr. Jane Dale Lloyd.

El Asesinato, produced by Patricia Arriaga, first premiered July 14 in Latin America.
