Español reported the highest second-quarter audience performance in its 14-year
Nielsen's figures for the period from March 26 to through June 24, Discovery
showed a 15% year-over-year audience growth rate among Hispanic persons and
women 18 to 49, ranking No. 1 on Thursday and Sunday nights and beating other
Hispanic pay TV outlets.
network also reported a 44% year-over-year growth in the same period among
women 18-49, a segment the network has been particularly focused on with the
launch of new programs.
"This increase in viewership builds upon the
network's solid performance over the last three years," Discovery U.S. Hispanic
general manager Ivan Bargueiras said.

the appointment of Carolina Lightcap as head of content for Discovery Networks
Latin America/U.S. Hispanic.
A native of
Argentina, Lightcap has a long history with developing relevant content for
Latin American audiences and most recently was president of Disney Channels
