Discovery Holding Co. said Tuesday that it has acquired AccentHealth.
AccentHealth “provides healthy lifestyle programming to engage, entertain and educate patients while they wait to see their doctor” in more than 11,200 waiting rooms nationwide, the company said.
Its content is divided into five networks: General Health Network, Pediatric Network, Silver Network, OBGYN Network and En Español Network.
DHC's Ascent Media Group will oversee the company’s investment in AccentHealth.
DHC is a holding company for wholly owned subsidiary Ascent and 50%-owned Discovery Communications Inc.
“Our acquisition of AccentHealth reflects our commitment to the health-and-wellness content genre and to the rapidly developing place-based media business," DHC president Robert Bennett said in a prepared statement.
“AccentHealth has a 10-year media-sales track record supporting prestigious health-care and consumer-product brands with compelling, relevant programming content with effective and demonstrable results,” he added.
