Discovery Joins 100M Club

Discovery Channel crossed the 100-milion-subscriber mark in May, one of
five U.S. programmers so far to join the club.
In addition to Discovery, TBS, The Weather Channel, Nickelodeon and Nick at Nite have topped 100 million total subscribers, counting cable, satellite and telephone company TV customers, according to Nielsen. TBS tops the list and Discovery is No. 2 with 100.1 million subscribers.
A dozen other programmers have north of 99 million subscribers, and 30 networks in total have more than 98 million subscribers, per Nielsen.
Discovery is turning 25 years old this June. Channel general manager Clark Bunting called hitting 100 million "a extraordinary accomplishment."
