Discovery Communications Inc. and Microsoft Corp. announced a cross-platform advertising-sales partnership Tuesday focused on the documentary genre.
Microsoft will be the presenting sponsor for the third annual “SILVERDOCS: AFI/Discovery Channel Documentary Festival,” to be held June 14-19, as well as for the network’s “Discovery Docs” theatrical documentary releases.
“This partnership reinforces the broad scope of Discovery’s offerings and the value to advertisers beyond the television screen,” Discovery Networks U.S. president of advertising sales Joe Abruzzese said in a prepared statement.
“Incorporating Discovery Docs and SILVERDOCS into this partnership -- which creates a greater national stage for some of the world’s best documentarians -- fits well with Microsoft’s brand and strategy, ‘Realize Your Potential,’ which encourage learning and personal growth,” Abruzzese added.
“We’re excited to partner with Discovery on this venture,” Microsoft general manager of worldwide advertising Mike Delman said in a prepared statement. “The high-quality programming and involvement in the film festival, SILVERDOCS, make Discovery a valuable partner to help us get our messages out to consumers in a variety of formats.”
