Golf Channel has upgraded its positioning on Dish Network, a move that vaults the sports service past the 80 million household plateau.
Through a multiyear pact, terms of which were not disclosed, Golf is now available on America’s Top 200 programming package. Previously, the Comcast-owned service was part of Dish’s Top 250 offering, according to officials at the programmer. The shift pushed Golf’s subscriber base to just under 82 million subscribers.
“This new partnership with Dish Network continues the significant growth we’ve realized since the announcement of our historic partnership with the PGA Tour,” said Golf Channel president Page Thompson in a statement. “We’re excited that more Dish customers will be able to enjoy the great golf action delivered by the biggest names on all the leading golf tours around the world.”
Noted Dish senior vice president of programming Eric Sahl: “Dish Network recognizes the high-quality content Golf Channel brings to our subscribers and is happy to now make it available to a wider audience of golf fans.
