Dish, Disney Postpone Hearing

The court hearing on the fate of ABC Family carriage on Dish Network that had
been slated for Monday has been postponed for two weeks, EchoStar Communications
Corp. spokeswoman Judianne Atencio said late Sunday.

EchoStar and The Walt Disney Co. mutually agreed on the two-week delay,
Atencio said.

The trial had already been postponed in the hopes that the two sides could
come to an agreement without the aid of a hearing.

Disney is disputing EchoStar's claim that it has the right to drop ABC
Family, despite a multiyear contract, because the channel has changed ownership.
Disney bought the widely distributed basic-cable network from News Corp.'s Fox
Cable Networks last summer.

Even before Disney bought the network, EchoStar attempted to drop the
channel, claiming that its programming had changed significantly since its
original owners sold the network to Fox.
