EchoStar Communications Corp. disclosed Wednesday that it has replaced its
independent auditor, Arthur Andersen LLP, with KPMG LLP.
Andersen had been EchoStar's auditor since 1988.
The decision was made 'after careful consideration by the board of directors,
audit committee and management after a rigorous selection process,' EchoStar
spokesman Marc Lumpkin said.
He added that the decision was not the result of any disagreement between
EchoStar and Andersen on accounting principles and practices.
Lumpkin would not comment on whether the accounting firm's very public
troubles with Enron Corp. played any factor in the decision.
