Dish Network signed a 10-year extension to its agreement with Kudelski Group's Nagravision SA to continue using the vendor's conditional-access system.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. According to the companies, Dish Network recently completed migrating its more than 14 million subscribers to Nagravision's latest generation security technology.
The new agreement covers Dish Networks' deployment of next-generation security smart cards from Switzerland-based Nagravision, in addition to a broader scope of signal protection covering traditional and emerging piracy threats, the companies said.
"Nagravision's flexible solutions in supporting new services, features and functionalities as well as their pragmatic approach have helped us grow our pay-TV business in an innovative way," Dish Network chairman, CEO and president Charlie Ergen said in a statement. "In an increasingly competitive environment, Nagravision is clearly a strong partner to be with today and going forward."
"We are proud that Dish Network will benefit from the most innovative security solutions available on the market. Our mutual commitment enables customization of our solution roadmap to address DISH Network's specific needs over the next few years and support their growth," commented André Kudelski, president and CEO of the Kudelski Group.
