Dish, TBS Kick Off Interactive Football

EchoStar Communications Corp. cut a deal with TBS that will allow Dish Network subscribers to pick their own camera angles during college-football games on the network.

Each Saturday through Nov. 5, EchoStar customers will be able to choose from six different camera angles during the games, which can be accessed on channel 100, the Dish Home interactive-TV channel.

EchoStar boasted that the “TBS College Football Extra” games mark the first time a pay TV provider is offering subscribers the ability to choose from multiple camera angles during a nationally broadcast sports event.

The deal is also noteworthy considering that TBS, which is owned by Time Warner Inc., hasn’t yet launched a similar interactive channel on its corporate sister, Time Warner Cable.
