Disney On ‘Cloud 9’ With 5 Million Viewers For Original Movie

Disney Channel’s snowboarding-themed original movie Cloud 9 drew 5 million viewers in its Jan. 17 debut, according to network officials.

The 8 p.m. movie, which stars Dove Cameron(Liv and Maddie), as a competitive snowboarder, ranked as cable’s top telecast on Friday in total viewers, and the second most TV telecast this season in Kids 2-11 (2.6 million viewers) and kids 6 to 11 (2.1 million) behind only the November 2013 debut of Good Luck Jessie: NYC Christmas, according to Nielsen Fast Nationals ratings.

Following Cloud 9, the network’s launch of comedy series I Didn’t Do It delivered 3.9 million viewers, while the 10:10 p.m., debut of Disney Channel game show Win, Lose or Draw garnered 2.8 million viewers and was easily TV’s top telecast during the time period in several key demos, including Kids 2-11 (1.5 million), Kids 6-11 (1.2 million) and Tweens 9-14 (1.3 million).
