Disney Launches 'Summer of Creativity' Campaign

Disney ABC Television Group is seeking to inspire young people to create a better future this summer through its “Summer of Creativity” campaign.

The programmer’s new initiative aims to inspire young people across the country to continue to be inspired to create a better future through “creativity and action” the company said in a statement. During the week of July 13, ABC will showcase non-profit organizations and their creative approaches to building stronger communities on Good Morning America and other ABC shows.

Disney ABC Television will be backing the initiative with programming and public-service announcements across its portfolio of cable, broadcast TV and online properties. It will fund over 100 Youth Service America grants and winners will receive $500 to make communities “greener, safer, smarter, healthier or cleaner,” the programmer said.

“Across Disney, our concern for kids and families extends beyond their entertainment to the communities in which they live,” David Ambroz, executive director of corporate citizenship and social responsibility, said in a statement. “Through our group’s powerful reach and impact, we can inspire and support individuals to create change in their lives and the world around them.”

Grant applications will be accepted until Aug. 10. For more information, visit www.YSA.org/BeInspired.

ABC on Aug. 21 will air the Free the Children’s “We Day” 2015 event in Chicago, hosted by singer/actress and former Disney Channel star Selena Gomez. The hourlong broadcast, which starts at 8 p.m., will “spotlight young change makers that embody the ‘Summer of Creativity’” the programmer said.
