Disney Sings Kanter’s Praises

Disney Channel has elevated Nancy Kanter to senior vice president of original programming.

Kanter -- who had been serving as VP of original programming since joining the network in 2001 -- was promoted for her work with preschool series JoJo’s Circus and Higglytown Heroes, which delivered 18% and 10% ratings increases among kids 2-5 in their respective Playhouse Disney time slots during the third quarter, according to the network.

In her new post, Kanter will continue to oversee development and production of all series, adding oversight of all interstitial content for Playhouse Disney.

“Nancy is a superb creative executive whose dedication to the development of programming that can expand both a child's imagination and learning potential is an enormous asset to our business, to the Playhouse Disney brand and to parents and preschool-age children around the world,” Disney Channel executive VP of original programming and production Gary Marsh said in a prepared statement.
