The Walt Disney Co. said Thursday that it was putting its MovieBeam video-on-demand service on hold, AP reported.

Disney said it will upgrade the technology for the service, which was being tested in Salt Lake City; Jacksonville, Fla.; and Spokane, Wash., according to AP.

The company announced in September that it had postponed plans to expand MovieBeam to other markets, as it was exploring partnerships to include the service in set-top boxes, PCs or other devices, according to AP.

“In order to provide our consumers with even better entertainment experiences, MovieBeam is planning an upgrade of its technology, network and infrastructure," a Disney spokeswoman told AP Thursday.
