Disney to Throw Hat Into PPV Ring

The Walt Disney Co.'s Walt Disney Attractions will team up
with The Big Bang Concert Series to develop a July pay-per-view concert featuring
country-music superstar Wynonna, marking the first of what could become a regular series
of events.

The concert, taped from Disney-MGM Studios in Florida, will
be offered at a suggested retail price of $19.95, said Jay Williams, broadcast manager for
Walt Disney Attractions. Viewer's Choice, as well as all of the direct-broadcast satellite
services, will distribute the event.

The concert was part of Disney's festivities surrounding
the opening of its Animal Kingdom theme park in April. "We wanted to do something to
spotlight what's happening and to let people know that this is more than just Disney World
here," Williams said.

Williams also hopes that the concert will reach beyond the
typical 18- to 34-year-old male demographic that buys the majority of PPV movies and
events. "PPV is a new area for us, and we feel that we can break new ground,"
Williams said.

Although the concert is not tied to Disney's movie
division, Williams said, it could be featured as the first of several concerts originating
from the Disney properties. While country music will be spotlighted in the immediate
future, Williams added, Disney and Big Bang are looking to develop an urban version, as
well as a rock/pop version, of the series.

And with Walt Disney World as a backdrop, he believes that
the organization can attract major talent. "We think that we can create a great
showcase for an artist as part of his/her tour," Williams said.
