Disney XD to Air ‘Doctor Who’

Disney XD will air prior seasons of the iconic BBC sci-fi series Doctor Who beginning in May, the network announced Wednesday.

Disney XD has acquired the rights to seasons two, three and four of the time travel series starring David Tennant. The network will air the first episode of season two on May 9, with eight additional episodes of the series airing as part of a week-long programming stunt beginning June 13.

The episodes will also be available on the WATCH Disney XD app beginning June 14, said network officials.

“This iconic series features the high-quality, high-stakes action and adventure storytelling that our viewers love,” said Marc Buhaj, Senior Vice President, Programming and General Manager for Disney XD in a statement. “The show headlines one of the most charismatic lead characters in television in the form of the Doctor and showcases a compelling rogues' gallery of villains from around the universe."
