Disney XD Eyes Daredevil Of A Series

Production has begun on Kid Knievel, a 2-D animated comedy series for Disney XD about a 12-year-old boy who aspires to become the world's greatest daredevil.

The show, a production of Walt Disney Television Animation, will premiere next fall on the soon-to-launch Disney XD, the service now know as Jetix. Disney XD will take aim at boys 6 to 14 and their families, and also aspires to be girl-inclusive.

The series follows a boy -- short in stature but big in heart -- who overcomes obstacles in his quest to become the world's greatest and most extreme daredevil. Inspired daredevil icon “Kaptain” Robbie Knievel, the series' main character, Kid  (real name is Francis Littel) pursues his daily dose of danger and, as he’s wont to say, "a whole lot of awesome!"

Daredevil "Kaptain" Robbie Knievel will serve as a stunt consultant on the series.

Additionally, Disney XD.com will present five, 55-second original animated shorts in advance of the series’ TV premiere. The shorts will air thereafter on Disney XD.

“As our first animated show for the new Disney XD platform, 'Kid Knievel' sets the tone for the animated series to come.  It has break-out characters, fresh designs, big laughs and great action” said Eric Coleman, senior vice president, original series, Walt Disney Television Animation.

The series was created by Sandro Corsaro. Animation producer Chris Savino (Johnny Test, Power Puff Girls), who has twice been nominated for an Emmy Award, is the series’ executive producer and director.
