Disney's ‘Let It Shine' Draws 5.7 Million Viewers

Disney Channel's tween-targeted musical film Let It Shine averaged 5.7 million viewers in its Friday night premiere.

The movie, a re-imagining of the classic Cyrano de Bergerac story set in the contemporary world of hip-hop, rap and gospel music, also garnered string viewership in key kid demos including kids 2 to 11 (3 million), 6 to 11 (2.6 million)  and tweens 9 to 14 (2.3 million.)

The movie, which stars Tyler James Williams (Everybody Hates Chris) and Coco Jones, is now the most watched original movie in 2012 across all kid demographics, according for Disney officials.

The movie's lead-in show, an original episode of Good Luck Charlie, drew 3.6 million viewers, according to Disney. The episode, Name that Baby, was part of a story arc that will culminate in a June 24 episode featuring the birth of a child to the show's fictitious family the Duncans. Viewers cast 25 million votes for the baby's name at www.DisneyChannel.com, the results of which will be revealed during next Sunday's episode.
