Documentaries, Shorts in the Starz

Starz Entertainment Group LLC made several programming announcements Friday.

Encore is preparing original documentary Bullets Over Hollywood for a fall debut.

Based on the book of the same name by John McCarty, Bullets Over Hollywood examines the appeal of American gangster movies from the silent-film era to today.

Bullets Over Hollywood will also include interviews with The Godfather’s James Caan, Paul Sorvino, Anjelica Huston, Chazz Palminteri, Roger Corman and real “goodfella” Henry Hill.

And Black Starz! said Friday that original documentary Unstoppable: A Conversation with GordonParks, Melvin Van Peebles and Ossie Davis will have its world premiere Sunday, Feb. 13 at 8 p.m.

Unstoppable is an intimate portrait of three highly influential men of African-American cinema who were the first African Americans to direct Hollywood features.

Finally, the programmer renewed its agreement with Angry Alien Productions, which will bring Starz!, Starz on Demand and Starz! Tickets on RealMovies 10 more 30-second shorts from animator Jennifer Shiman.

The spots feature talking animated bunnies spoofing famous Hollywood films in 30 seconds.
