Cleveland -- Cable mogul and sports magnate Charles Dolan
is looking to add the National Football League's Cleveland Browns expansion franchise
to his list of owned professional-sports teams.
Dolan, along with his brother, Lawrence, has
"expressed interest" in pursuing ownership of the franchise, which is expected
to begin play in 1999, said representatives from Cablevision Systems Corp.
The MSO and its holdings, however, would not be involved in
any Browns deal, which Cablevision is terming a "family enterprise" endeavor.
Dolan already owns the New York Knicks National Basketball
Association and New York Rangers National Hockey League teams, and he expressed interest
last month in purchasing Major League Baseball's New York Yankees from longtime team
owner George Steinbrenner.
